Car Hire Insurance – Do You Really Need It? Here’s what you need to know:

It’s been a long flight. You’re tired, hungry and your travelling companions whether they’re adults or children, are probably feeling the same and making sure that you know all about it. You stop at the rental car building to pick up the car for your stay but hesitate when it comes to that all important car hire insurance. You’ve heard rumours that car hire insurance is covered by your own car insurance and credit card benefits, but one should never just assume.

These are the reasons you need car hire insurance:

  1. You don’t have car insurance

This is practically self-explanatory, if you’re not covered and something goes wrong with your hired car then you will be completely liable for all costs incurred.

  1. Peace of mind

You don’t want to spoil your holiday worrying about every hypothetical situation that could result in the damage of your hired car. Make sure that you’re covered and use the time to relax instead.

  1. Travelling for business

Your company should be able to pay for the insurance on your rental car or at least reimburse you after the trip. However if they are not willing to do so and renting the car is at your own request, it is a good idea to chat to your insurance broker to get car hire cover.

  1. You’re travelling abroad

Some car insurance packages do not cover their owners for travel outside of the country of origin. It is best to check your policy before assuming that you are covered.

If you are unsure as to whether you are covered with rental car insurance in your current car insurance package be sure to contact CC&A Insurance Brokers and one of our brokers will be happy to assist you.
