Our very own Nitesh Manilal did CC&A proud at the Masifunde Awards that took place in early May and was awarded the Top Achiever Award for his outstanding achievement in the Short Term Insurance Level 4 programme. We sat down with him to talk about what this means for him.

The lead up to the spotlight

Nitesh did not have a career in insurance as part of his plans. Having studied IT and a mind that was set on entering the IT industry, his path in life changed as he was made aware of the unemployed learnerships available at CC&A through INSETA. He was approached by HR as he was already known in the CC&A family as his father, Ramesh Manilal, has been working with us for 36 years.  We are also very thankful to Nitesh who takes care of all our IT requirements, so his diploma is not going to waste!

The award and learnerships at CC&A

Nitesh made us all incredibly proud with his Top Achiever Award for his impeccable performance throughout the programme. Although he kicked off his career with a diploma in Information Technology, he is now learning more and more about the insurance industry – an opportunity that would not have been made possible without the learnership. He is understandably proud of himself in that his hard work has paid off with this award.

The CC&A environment is one of family, and Nitesh has acknowledged that this is achieved through a shared vision amongst employees and a shared dedication to the CC&A mission. Gillian Lewis, who oversees the HR aspect of CC&A but is very involved in the implementation of the learnerships, believes these programmes fit into CC&A’s values because they uplift people, educating and growing them to hopefully become a permanent member of the CC&A family. The 12-month learnership contract also allows them to gauge which department a person is best suited to the company, and if they are indeed suitable for the company.
